Personal Profile

Geoff M^cBride was born in Middlesex, UK, in 1963. He was with the Army Air Corp 1983-94. He then read Physics at the University of Southampton in 1997.

"My previous career was with the Army Air Corp 1983-94. I took redundancy in 1994 and went on to read Physics at the University of Southampton after which I started at RAL in 1998. Now half way through a PhD in Engineering as part of my SMART-1 research at Oxford Brookes University."

Projects

Proposal editor for an Earth observation proposal for WorldSat [RAL, INVAP, DLR].
Project Scheduler and Mission Support for SISTeR an IR ship based instrument.
Project Scheduler and Mission Support for HIRDLS UK EOS (CHEM) monitoring Matra Marconi Space sub-system schedule, progress chasing RAL Power Control Unit sub-system, developed automation of data entry into the HIRDLS database, and mission support.
Management R&D and manufacturing for D-CIXS on SMART-1 collimator sub-system.
Presented a paper at the 3rd Round Table on Micro/Nano-Technologies for Space ESTEC.
Organisational Breakout Group investigating 'Customer/Stakeholder Relations'
Presented a paper at the 52nd International Astronautical Congress Oct 2001 Toulouse, France. Co-author of three other papers.

Part-time Employment

"Tele-sales canvasser for Commercial Training Dept at British Red Cross Hampshire Branch. Manager for Tele recruiting for Red Cross Week responsible for a team of nine temporary employees and volunteers. During my time with the Commercial Training Dept I passed my First Aid at Work Red Cross Certificate. Manager of a team of full-time and voluntary personnel every spring for the Red Cross Tele-recruiting campaign."

Hobbies

BSAC Sports Diver [sub-aqua), Running, circuit training, skiing down hill and x-country, cooking, reading, cinema.
