Background
"My first degree was at The University of Wales, Swansea in Materials Engineering. I followed on with a Master of Research (MRes) in fatigue of composite materials working with Rolls-Royce. I am currently a student at Sheffield University in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering department studying for a PhD. I am researching III-Nitride semiconductors using transmission electron microscopy. I am of Irish nationality, 26 years old, and was born and raised in Bromley south-east London.
"As an enthusiastic scientist and
amateur astronomer I
have always been looking for a way to use my skills in the space science
industry. I have previously been very lucky to spend two summers, during my
undergraduate degree, working with the space science department at
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
I was very excited to find out about the
project as it was
obvious that this would be a one in a lifetime experience to push technology to
its limits in an incredible team-working environment at an amazing research
facility."
