Background
At 22 years old
Dario is the youngest member of the
team. Of Italian
descent, he was born and educated in England.
Having just finished his MChem Chemistry degree at the
University
of Reading, England, he has also
applied for Associate Membership of the
Royal Society of Chemistry.
For the third year of the degree course Dario worked at the
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
(RAL) on a project called
DCIXS
(Demonstration of a Compact Imaging X-ray Spectrometer) for ESAs SMART-1 mission
to the moon. The main focus of his time at RAL was in the field of MEMS
micromachining using UV lithography to manufacture X-ray collimator elements.

enjoyable and so when I heard about
and what the project
aimed to achieve, I had to apply. I was lucky enough to be selected and hope to
apply the knowledge gained throughout my degree with the technical experience
gained at RAL to give a different perspective as to how the project objectives
can be met and make
the success it
deserves to be!"
After

Dario aims to start a PhD at The
University
of Reading
is association with the
Polymer Science Centre and
QinetiQ
to develop novel Photonic Band Gap materials.
